Adventures In Pencil Integration
Spencer's cartoon was very cute in its own little way. I feel like it simply got the point across that it is better to spend your money on something that will last than something that will break. If you go ahead and buy something worth the money, then it will end up saving you money in the long run. Sometimes expensive things really are better than the cheap stuff.
Why were your kids playing games?
Mr. Spencer's conversation with his principal was a pretty good eye opener. Teachers should be able to teach in the teaching style that works best for them. Standing up and making the kids just listen to lecures isn't for everyone. Games should be an important part of the teaching/learning process. Children really do learn more whenever they are involved and enjoying what they are doing. I would learn way more information at one time if a game was involved instead of just sitting down attempting to take notes.
Don't teach your kids this stuff please
Dr. McLeod has without a doubt posted the most interesting post that I have read so far. He really went out on a limb here and it was awesome. He makes all of these points about why not to use technology, and at the end his reasoning is because he's teaching his kids that way. He explains all of the bad things out there and then closes it up with the point that you must use technology to really be involved in this world as we know it. I really like this guy and his post made my day.
